The Team Justice Campaign

The "Team Justice" Champions campaign was initially set up and GMed by Bob Iwan. It was set in an "X-Men" kind of universe, a dark n' gritty world in which the public mistrusts superheroes and absolutely hates those whose powers are inborn (mutants). Team Justice was a group of outlaws fighting evil government and corporate plots, based in the Twin Cities. The only one of the original characters who is still on the team by the end was Quartz, a martial artist, played by Kevin Shifflet.

Other characters, with a different agenda, joined (and often left) through the course of the campaign. My character, Foxfire, a rather ruthless magician, was one of these. Several heroes who joined at the same time forced the team to go legit, making contacts with the police and the governor and brought Team Justice into the spotlight as celebrities and heroes. This insistence on legitimacy and cooperation with authorities ultimately turned out to be the greatest source of strife within the team. Team Justice now focussed on fighting super-powered criminals and terrorists and made sure that the press got front-row seats. They were a bit more subtle when it came to protecting a secret enclave of mutants, the St. Paul Underground.

Ray Knapp took over from Bob as GM and Team Justice had to quietly deal with would-be totalitarians from the future and publically discredit the politicians and businessmen who were laying the foundations in the present for the totalitarian regime's rise to power. Lord Kelvin, Bob Iwan's character, had to be rescued from these would-be totalitarians. There was also a dilemma: what to do about Team Vixen: a group of superpowered women who had decided to rub out men who abused women. Team Justice decided to let them be, as they were based in the Southwest and might prove to be valuable allies if the dark future that the totalitarians were setting up actually happened.

When Ray eloped, Craig Neumeier took over as GM. Mist, Nate Nolan's character, a magical martial artist, defected to Team Justice from the Black Lotus Society, a tong dominated by evil magicians. At the moment, Team Justice is trying to foil a plot by the Black Lotus Society which involves bringing the Dragons back to Earth, a very impractical notion at best. All Team Justice needs to do is catch the magician who carries the Dream of a Sword and reinstate the Fisher King and they're set...

Craig put together his own description of the Team Justice campaign for the benefit of new players. The campaign finished up in 1996, but I have a fairly complete plot summary.

I'm starting to post characters from Team Justice Academy:
